How to use 3d model tools in solid work

3D model tools add the thickness values to designed 2 D sketches. For addition of thickness values several tools are available in solid work design software.  They are given below

  1. Extruded boss/base
  2. Revolved boss/base
  3. Extruded cut
  4. Revolved cut
  5. Hole wizard
  6. Swept boss/base
  7. Lofted boss/base
  8. Boundary boss/base
  9. Swept cut
  10. Lofted cut

  16. Circular pattern

  18. Draft

PROCEDURE FOR PART DESIGN USING 3 D MODELING TOOLS IN SOLID WORK

1.Extruded boss/base

Adding thickness to 2 D sketches and shapes like rectangular boxes (cuboid), cubes, cylinder etc can formed.

  • Draw 2 D sketch.
  • Click on features.
  • Choose extruded boss/base.
  • Set thickness value and direction.
  • Click ok.

2. Extruded cut

Removing  thickness to 2 D sketches and shapes like rectangular boxes (cuboid), cubes, cylinder etc on .

  • Draw 2 D sketch on extruded part.
  • Click on features.
  • Choose extruded cut.
  • Set thickness value and direction.
  • Click ok.

3.Revolved boss

To generate the critical cylindrical parts based on half sectional view of that part.

  • Draw 2 D sketch which is half sectional part and center axis.
  • Click on features.
  • Choose revolved boss.
  • Select sketch and center axis
  • Set circular angle for reference of cylindrical parts.
  • Click ok.

REVOLVE IMAGE

4. Revolved cut

To remove the critical cylindrical parts based on half sectional view of that part.

  • Draw 2 D sketch which is half sectional part and center axis.
  • Click on features.
  • Choose revolved boss.
  • Select sketch and center axis
  • Set circular angle for reference of cylindrical parts.
  • Click ok.
