Understanding the conical curves and conic sections in engineering drawing mechanically Cams, Gear teeth and other machine components developed by using these curves. A few curves are Ellipse, Parabola, Hyperbola, Involute, Spiral, and Cycloids.

Hyperbola, Parabola, Ellipse are called conic section these are obtained by cutting a right circular cone by a plane in different positions.

Hyperbola

Hyperbola section is obtained by when the locus of a point passing through such a way that the ratio of its distance from a fixed point to the fixed straight line is a constant line. Cutting section is called hyperbola.

Parabola

Parabola section is when a cone is cut by a plane such a way that ratio of its distance from a fixed point to the fixed straight line is a constant line. Cutting section is called parabola.

Ellipse

Ellipse is when the cone is cut by a plane passing through the axis with a angle and cutting the slant surface of cone on the opposite sides. Cutting section is called ellipse.

Hyperbola

Engineering application of the hyperbola is used for design of channels and large types of smoke existing drums and etc…!

Parabola

Engineering application of the parabola is used for machine tool structure, suspension bridges, arches, sound, light reflectors for parallel beams such as search lights and etc…!

Ellipse

Engineering application of the ellipse is used for making stone bridges, stuffing boxes, concrete arches, glands and reflectors are used in automobile etc…!
